How Often Should You Deep Clean Your House?

2 May 20266 min read

A 'deep clean' means different things to different people. Here's a simple framework we share with new customers: weekly upkeep, monthly resets, and a proper seasonal deep clean twice a year.

Weekly upkeep (about 90 minutes for a 3-bed home)

Vacuum all floors, mop hard surfaces, wipe kitchen worktops and hob, clean the toilet, sink and shower, and change bed linen. This rhythm keeps grime from building up in the first place.

Monthly resets

Wipe inside the microwave, descale the kettle, clean the washing-machine drawer and door seal, dust light fittings and skirting boards, and wash the bins inside and out.

Set a reminder on your phone for the same day each month — most people find the last Sunday works well.

Seasonal deep clean (spring and autumn)

Move furniture and vacuum underneath, wash curtains and cushion covers, clean windows inside and out, degrease the oven and extractor, descale taps and shower heads, and clean behind large appliances.

A seasonal deep clean typically takes 4–6 hours in a family home. Splitting it across a weekend, or booking it in, keeps it manageable.
